Following a peculiar incident during Q2 at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya, Hamilton will begin the race in fourth position, while Russell will start from 12th on the grid.

In the meantime, Verstappen secured another pole position, finishing four-tenths ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Lando Norris delivered an impressive performance, claiming third place for McLaren.

Pierre Gasly initially secured fourth place for Alpine, but due to two three-place grid penalties, he will start further back. Local favorite Fernando Alonso will embark from eighth place in his Aston Martin.

Russell will begin the race one position behind Sergio Perez, as the Red Bull driver also failed to progress beyond Q2. Perez, who is Verstappen’s closest contender in the championship, had a challenging week following his disappointing performance in Monaco, where he finished 16th and two laps down.

In qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix, Perez only managed to secure the 11th spot. Adding to the surprising turn of events, Charles Leclerc, who started on pole in last year’s race, finds himself second-to-last on the grid as Ferrari continues to struggle.
