Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave a sneak peek of his company’s latest Quest 3 VR headset.
The Quest 3 VR headset is 40% thinner than its predecessor
In an Instagram video, Zuckerberg revealed that the new headset will have a starting price of $499. He also mentioned that it will be the first headset to feature “high-res color mixed reality,” according to the accompanying post. Compared to its predecessor, the Quest 3 is 40% thinner.
The front of the headset appears to be equipped with at least three cameras, which could enhance the pass-through experiences. This feature allows users to see the real world while wearing the headset and engaging with applications. The video emphasized improved “natural” depth perception for the wearer and highlighted graphics advancements for gaming.
According to a release from Meta, it will incorporate “high-fidelity color Passthrough, innovative machine learning, and spatial understanding” to enable simultaneous interaction with virtual content and the physical world, opening up limitless possibilities for exploration.

The post also mentioned that the Quest 3 will come with a next-generation Qualcomm chipset. Meta plans to share more details about the headset during its Connect conference on September 27th.
