Tina Turner battled with various health challenges

In recent years, Turner battled with various health challenges. In 2016, she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, and in 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant. Sadly, she peacefully passed away at her residence in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

Turner initially rose to prominence alongside her former husband Ike Turner, forming a musical partnership that produced timeless hits like “River Deep, Mountain High” and a memorable rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary.”

However, after nearly two decades of enduring Ike’s abuse and infidelity, she bravely ended both their personal and professional relationship in 1976. Her gripping journey would later be chronicled in her acclaimed 1986 autobiography, “I, Tina.”

Emancipated from the constraints of her previous marriage, Tina embarked on a remarkable reinvention, ultimately establishing herself as a defining figure in the pop music landscape of the ’80s. Her captivating anthem of the era, “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” solidified her position as a trailblazing pop musician.

Tina Turner’s indelible impact on the music world will continue to resonate, ensuring that her extraordinary contributions and pioneering spirit endure for generations to come.
