Queen Elizabeth, who holds the record as the longest-reigning monarch in British history, passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle, the historic retreat of the royal family in Scotland. Her death marked the ascension of Charles to the throne, with his wife Camilla assuming the title of queen.

“On this solemn occasion, as we commemorate the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s passing and my own accession, we fondly remember her extensive life of unwavering service and the significance she held for countless individuals,” Charles expressed in his statement.
